Flames and Fragrance: Two Suspects Wanted After Crashing into Michigan Weed Store and Igniting Fire

DETROIT, MICHIGAN — Authorities are searching for two suspects following a brazen and destructive "ram-and-burn" attack on a local cannabis dispensary in the early hours of Tuesday, May 12, 2026. The incident, which saw a vehicle driven through the storefront before being set ablaze, has left the business in ruins and investigators scrambling for leads.

The quiet morning was shattered when a stolen SUV was used as a battering ram to breach the dispensary's security. The vehicle smashed through the reinforced glass and security shutters of the storefront, coming to a stop deep inside the showroom.

Witnesses and surveillance footage indicate that two masked individuals then exited the vehicle and intentionally ignited an accelerant. The resulting fire quickly spread, fueled by the vehicle’s fuel tank and the shop’s interior fixtures, creating a massive blaze that could be seen for miles.

Firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes to find the building fully engulfed in flames. Crews worked for over two hours to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to adjacent businesses in the commercial strip. While the building's structural integrity is still being assessed, the shop's inventory and interior were completely destroyed by smoke and fire. Fortunately, the store was closed at the time of the attack, and no injuries were reported among the first responders or the public.

Police are currently treating the incident as a coordinated act of arson and commercial burglary. Two individuals wearing dark hoodies and face coverings were seen fleeing the scene on foot toward a secondary getaway vehicle parked nearby.

While the motive remains unclear, investigators are looking into whether the attack was a targeted hit by a rival group or a botched heist intended to mask a robbery. Meanwhile, forensic teams are scouring the remains of the vehicle left inside the shop for VIN details and potential DNA evidence.

The incident has rattled local business owners, who are now calling for increased police patrols in the area.

"To see a local business destroyed like this is heartbreaking," said a neighboring shop owner. "It wasn't just a crash; they clearly intended to burn the whole place down."

Michigan State Police are asking anyone with information, or anyone who may have captured dash cam footage in the vicinity of the incident between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM, to come forward.
