The Ross Fire has grown rapidly across North Texas, burning at least 80,000 acres in Palo Pinto and Jack counties. Fueled by strong winds, extreme heat, dry vegetation, and prolonged drought, the blaze destroyed or damaged several structures and threatened additional homes and infrastructure. Evacuation orders were issued for parts of Jack County, while schools closed or delayed opening. Firefighters supported by Texas state crews, aircraft, and bulldozers were working to contain the flames. The fire was 12% contained, with officials warning that dangerous conditions could drive further growth.
