U.S. District Judge Sharon Gleason dismissed the Trump administration’s lawsuit seeking to separate ballots for Daniel J. Sullivan, a candidate with the same name as Republican Senator Dan Sullivan, and potentially block certification of Alaska’s Senate election results. The administration argued that voters might confuse the two candidates. Gleason said the proposed action could violate Alaskans’ right to a secret ballot. The Justice Department said it would appeal. Senator Sullivan, who faces Democrat Mary Peltola, said he would accept the election result, win or lose.
