Egypt’s Sisi Offers to Defend Saudi Arabia if Asked

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said Saturday that Egypt would defend Saudi Arabia if requested, but stressed Cairo was not seeking to enter the conflict. He called for parliament to hold an emergency session and authorize possible action, saying any move would be defensive rather than an attack. His remarks came amid escalating Houthi strikes on Saudi targets, including Riyadh’s main airport and energy infrastructure. Egypt’s parliament was expected to consider the request on Sunday. No Egyptian deployment was announced
