The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has published new broadcast guidelines for women’s athletics intended to reduce the sexualization of female athletes on screen. The 23-page document, developed with input from European Athletics and Olympic athletes such as Holly Bradshaw, Ivana Španović, and Blanka Vlašić, focuses on how cameras frame and depict competitors during events. The EBU says the rules aim to ensure coverage respects athletes’ professionalism and competitive intensity, rather than lingering on body-focused angles that can be distracting or stressful.
