Dirty Dancing’ Sequel Will Honor Patrick Swayze as Jennifer Grey Helps Shape Baby’s Next Chapter

The planned “Dirty Dancing” sequel is being developed with care for the 1987 film’s spirit and Patrick Swayze’s legacy. Producer Nina Jacobson said the original now feels unusually independent and daring, particularly in its treatment of difficult subjects. Jennifer Grey is returning as Frances “Baby” Houseman and is working with the filmmakers to shape the character’s next chapter. The team is also collaborating with Swayze’s estate to find thoughtful ways to acknowledge Johnny Castle, rather than simply recreate the past.
