‘Cockroach’ Protest Leader Among Hundreds Detained in Delhi Crackdown

Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke and two other leaders were detained after their flight landed in Delhi, the group said. Police have not publicly explained the detentions or disclosed the leaders’ whereabouts. Hundreds of people were reportedly detained as authorities deployed security personnel, barricaded roads and restricted mobile internet in parts of the capital. The CJP called for electoral reforms and the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging eligible voters had been removed from rolls. The Election Commission and ruling BJP deny allegations of manipulation.
