A new United Nations climate assessment warns that global warming has entered a dangerous phase, with some impacts now unavoidable. Rising temperatures are already intensifying heatwaves, floods, droughts, wildfires, sea-level rise and ecosystem disruption worldwide. However, the report says governments can still reduce future damage by rapidly cutting greenhouse-gas emissions, ending fossil-fuel dependence and protecting carbon sinks.
