Norwegian Home Guard personnel discovered that rental cars used during a September exercise had recorded video of soldiers, their routes and codes entered at military gates. At least two vehicles were Deepal electric cars, a Chinese brand. The cars were rented through First Rent A Car Norway, which operates under the Hertz brand and is linked through Volvo Cars to China’s Geely group. Soldiers deleted the recordings after the exercise, but it remains unclear whether footage had been stored only inside the cars or transmitted elsewhere.
