Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian urged the US to withdraw the measures, saying they harm Chinese media operations and contradict agreements on media cooperation. Under the changes, foreign journalists would face shorter stays, while Chinese journalists would be limited to even stricter timeframes. Beijing said it would respond reciprocally without detailing steps.
