The Dallas Police Department confirmed that the series of shootings occurred over a period of roughly 75 minutes in the bustling nightlife area, which was packed with crowds celebrating Halloween weekend.
According to law enforcement authorities, gunfire erupted across three nearby locations within the entertainment corridor over a span of 75 minutes. The violence began at 12:20 a.m. with a shooting in the 2600 block of Elm Street, followed shortly by a second wave of gunfire at 1:05 a.m. a short distance away in the 2600 block of Main Street. The string of incidents culminated at 1:35 a.m. when a third shooting broke out in the 200 block of South Crowdus Street.
Chaos ensued as thousands of patrons fled the scene into nearby avenues and side streets searching for shelter. First responders arrived to assist multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities noted that four individuals succumbed to their injuries; while at least 15 others were transported or self-transported to regional hospitals for treatment.
Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux addressed reporters during a press conference, stating that investigators are actively reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and examining physical evidence across multiple crime scenes.
"This is completely unacceptable to take place in Dallas, and we're going to do everything that we need to do to get everyone responsible into custody," Chief Comeaux said.
While several individuals have been detained or arrested near the scene, police emphasized that detectives have not yet established a clear connection between the three incidents or identified specific motives.
The identities of the four deceased victims have not yet been released pending family notification. Law enforcement officials continue to ask anyone with video recordings, photos, or details regarding the shootings to contact the Dallas Police Department.
