Chandler drops Flock license plate reader cameras after audit flags potential misuse

Chandler, Arizona is discontinuing its use of Flock automated license plate reader cameras after a routine audit found an anomaly that couldn’t be explained through standard police work. Police Chief Bryan Chapman said personnel access to the system has been restricted and an internal investigation is underway to determine whether the system was used inappropriately and whether discipline is needed. The department began with a 14-camera pilot in March 2024 and expanded to 40 cameras in May 2025.
