Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot who made the “Miracle on the Hudson” landing in 2009, said he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He described it as early stage, noting that a name may not come easily, he may forget a story he recently told, and he doesn’t sleep as well. Sullenberger said his doctor has shown him how widespread Alzheimer’s is and he hopes speaking publicly can give others courage. He also said he is working with UCSF Medical Center specialists.
