Burnham to Consider Ban on Disposable Barbecues as Wildfires Rage in UK

As wildfires rage across the UK, Prime Minister Andy Burnham has urged retailers to withdraw disposable barbecues from sale during extreme heat. He said the government is extending voluntary restrictions already agreed with fire chiefs and supermarkets, after firefighters linked disposable grills to several serious blazes. Burnham added that, “longer term,” ministers may look at banning the single-use barbecues in summer months. Retailers previously pulled them after heatwaves were declared imminent.
