Bali is often viewed through the lens of tourism, but its economic landscape extends into healthcare, infrastructure, trade and local industries. In June 2026, Bank Indonesia’s Bali representative office used the Bali Jagadhita 2026 event to introduce investment opportunities on the island to six foreign ambassadors.
One of the projects presented was the Sanur Health Special Economic Zone, a development designed around healthcare services and related economic activity. The project was introduced to diplomatic representatives as part of a broader effort to show the range of investment opportunities available in Bali.
The six ambassadors represented Armenia, Oman, Pakistan, Bulgaria, Romania and Bahrain. Their participation provided an opportunity for Bali’s investment projects to be presented directly to representatives from different regions and economic backgrounds.
The presentation took place during Bali Jagadhita, an economic promotion event that brought together elements of trade, tourism and investment. Bank Indonesia also highlighted efforts to expand market access for micro, small and medium enterprises across the island.
The focus on healthcare reflects a wider effort to broaden Bali’s economy beyond conventional tourism activities. The Sanur Health SEZ is intended to develop healthcare services while creating supporting economic activity around the area.
Bank Indonesia Bali has also identified other potential investment opportunities. A separate investment catalogue prepared with the Bali provincial government contains 22 infrastructure projects, including the Sanur Health SEZ, public lighting projects and electric-vehicle procurement.
The effort comes at a time when Bali continues to attract attention as an international destination while also facing the need to diversify its economic foundations. Investment in sectors beyond tourism can create additional channels for growth and reduce dependence on a single source of economic activity.
Local businesses are part of that picture as well. By connecting MSMEs with broader markets, investment promotion can potentially strengthen the relationship between international capital, local producers and the island’s domestic economy.
For foreign investors, the attraction of Bali therefore extends beyond beaches and hospitality. Infrastructure, healthcare, technology, local products and supporting services form a wider economic landscape that continues to develop alongside the tourism industry.
Bank Indonesia’s engagement with foreign envoys represents one step in presenting that landscape internationally. As Bali continues to build its investment catalogue, the island’s economic story is increasingly being described through a combination of tourism, investment and emerging sectors.
