Kim Aris, son of Myanmar’s detained former leader Aung San Suu Kyi, says they spoke for the first time in more than five years. Aris described hearing his mother’s voice as deeply meaningful and thanked those who helped make the conversation possible. The 20-minute call reportedly took place at Myanmar’s embassy in London, where he spoke with her privately. Suu Kyi remains under house arrest in Naypyidaw, according to authorities. Aris emphasized that one conversation does not provide regular family access or mean his mother is free.
