Argentina: Private-Sector Wages Fall Nearly 4% Since Milei Took Office

Private-sector wages in Argentina have declined nearly 4% since President Javier Milei took office, according to the latest report by Argentine Institute for Fiscal Analysis (IARAF). The study compares current income levels with November 2023 and finds private-sector employees’ purchasing power slipped 3.6%. The biggest drops were recorded among national public-sector workers (-36.5%) and provincial employees (-9.8%). Researchers also link worsening disposable income to tariff increases outpacing inflation, further weighing on consumer spending.
