Amber Guyger, the former Dallas police officer convicted of murdering Botham Jean, was released on parole Friday after serving seven years of her 10-year sentence. Guyger fatally shot Jean, a Black accountant, inside his apartment in 2018 after mistakenly entering his home, according to her trial testimony. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles approved her release on October 1, citing conduct and participation in rehabilitation programs. She remains under parole supervision until 2029, with strict travel and contact rules.
