ISTANBUL, Turkey — A 21-year-old suspected Daesh (ISIS) terrorist was shot dead during a violent pre-dawn counter-terrorism raid in Istanbul on Friday, September 4, 2026 after opening fire on security forces attempting to execute an arrest warrant.
The targeted operation, conducted by special operations officers and counter-terrorism squads, turned into a prolonged firefight inside a residential neighborhood before police neutralized the suspect.
According to statements from the Istanbul Security Directorate, intelligence units had been monitoring the suspect following evidence linking him to active Daesh cells planning potential attacks within urban centers.
