PHILIPPINES - A heartbreaking road accident in Cagayan de Oro City claimed the lives of a 55-year-old man and his 11-year-old grandson after a trailer truck collided with the motorcycle they were riding on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, police confirmed.
According to authorities, the grandfather and his young grandson were traveling from Opol, Misamis Oriental toward Cagayan de Oro when another motorcycle ahead slowed down at an intersection in Barangay Bulua. Their motorcycle collided with the slowing vehicle, forcing them into the opposite lane where a trailer truck struck and ran over them.
Traffic investigators from the Cagayan de Oro City Police Traffic Enforcement Unit reported that both victims died at the scene from the impact of the crash.
