Taiz Gov. Nabil Shamsan says Yemen’s besieged city is already experiencing famine, as Houthi-run health officials report a Saudi airstrike killed at least 13 people in western Taiz Thursday. The siege, which began in early October, has cut off roads and supplies, leaving residents with severe shortages of water, cooking gas and food. Hospitals are nearly out of oxygen, and wheat flour stocks are nearly exhausted. The World Food Program says over 600,000 people who depend on aid remain unreachable.
