Yemen Group Used AI as Engineers to Develop Guided Rocket and 2,000km Ballistic Missile: Anthropic

Anthropic says a Yemen-based weapons engineering group used Claude Code as a virtual engineering team while developing three missile programmes. The projects included a guided rocket, a multistage ballistic missile with a stated range exceeding 2,000 kilometres, and the R2000 missile family, which featured a proposed hypersonic-glide variant. The group used multiple AI instances for coding, research and review. Anthropic said a guided-rocket test apparently failed, found no operational weapon, banned the accounts and shared information with authorities and partners.
