Speaking at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, he called for better risk awareness and for technology to remain “secure and controllable.” Xi also opposed letting any one country’s security interests outweigh others, and emphasized supporting capacity building—especially for Global South nations—to help close AI and digital divides and promote fairer access.
