The World Bank has raised India’s FY27 growth forecast to 7.1% from 6.6%, citing stronger-than-expected activity, resilient domestic demand, exports, and sustained momentum in industry and services. The upgrade comes despite global uncertainty, elevated oil prices, and potential climate-related disruptions. India recorded 7.8% growth in FY26, while the Bank projects 7.2% expansion in FY28. Agriculture remains a near-term weakness because of rainfall risks. The report also identifies artificial intelligence as a longer-term productivity opportunity, though adoption, infrastructure, and workforce skills remain uneven.
