Carrie Gifford, 44, has been charged after a fire destroyed or damaged five mobile homes at Eagle Lake Estates in Edwardsburg, Michigan. Investigators say the fire began late October 21 in a home Gifford rented, then spread to four nearby homes. All five were left uninhabitable, and several residents were displaced; everyone evacuated safely, with no injuries reported. Court records list charges of second-degree arson and preparing to burn a dwelling. Gifford is due back in court for a probable-cause conference November 5.
