WHO Says 10,000+ Attacks on Healthcare Workers Since 2018—No One Brought to Justice

The World Health Organization says it has verified more than 10,000 attacks on health care since 2018 across 29 countries and territories. WHO reports the attacks have caused around 5,700 deaths and 8,500 injuries. While WHO says health care should never be a target and that it documents incidents, its officials say “not a single” verified case has entered an accountability system. WHO added that attacks continue worldwide, including heavy-weapon strikes and other forms of obstruction that disrupt medical care and disease response.
