Scientists have now documented more than 16,000 dinosaur footprints at what is believed to be the most extensive dinosaur tracksite ever recorded. For paleontologists, the site offers something increasingly rare: context. Dinosaurs are often reconstructed as isolated species, separated by time and display cases. Here, they appear as neighbors, travelers, and inhabitants of the same terrain. The ground itself becomes the archive.
Standing among these footprints is not like looking at fossils behind glass. It is closer to standing where something once happened and realizing the distance between then and now is thinner than expected. Sixteen thousand steps later, the earth still holds their shape, reminding us that long before humans learned to leave marks on landscapes, something far older was already passing through—and leaving a trail that refused to disappear.
