Following days of unrelenting heavy regional rainfall, the saturated geological formations along the route reached a critical tipping point during the early hours of the morning. A massive, sudden rockfall cascaded down the steep canyon walls, showering the primary northern highway with tons of heavy boulders, fractured stone, and mud. The violent descent completely blocked both lanes of travel, instantly severing a vital transportation link between the capital and the northern municipalities.

Emergency highway maintenance crews and specialized geological teams were dispatched to the canyon site immediately after the alarm was raised by passing motorists.
