Ukraine’s prosecutor general’s office says it found the body of Ukrainian national Anastasiia Berezovska, a woman wanted in connection with the Monaco bombing that targeted businessman Vadym Yermolaiev. Authorities said she was discovered near Kyiv on Monday.
Ukrainian prosecutors also said they detained two people in connection with her death. In one account, an officer from Ukraine’s military intelligence service (HUR) confessed to killing Berezovska with the help of a former law enforcement officer, adding that he acted on his own initiative without informing his superiors.
Berezovska, 39, had been identified by Monaco authorities as the main suspect and became the subject of an Interpol Red Notice issued late the previous week.
The Monaco attack reportedly injured Yermolaiev and members of his family. Monaco’s authorities had described the blast as shocking and mobilized security services afterward.
