Crypto VC reported 58 investment projects in December 2025, up 3.6% from 56 projects in November 2025, according to RootData statistics. There were 898 projects overall in 2025, a 42.1% decrease from the 1,551 projects in 2024. Note: The numbers above may rise in the future because not all financing is revealed in a single month. For the entire year, the breakdown by sector is as follows: CeFi: 13.8%, DeFi: 22.4%, NFT/GameFi: 5.3%, L1/L2: 6%, RWA/DePIN: 7.3%, Tool/Wallet: 5%, and AI: 12.7%. Compared to $14.54 billion in November 2025, the total announced finance for December was $860 million, a decrease of 94.1% month over month. Compared to $9.33 billion in 2024, the total announced investment for 2025 was $49.75 billion, an increase of 433.2% year over year.The following were the year's top ten biggest funding rounds:Naver In November, Naver made an all-stock acquisition of Dunamu, the Upbit operator, for about $10.3 billion.With Naver Financial and Dunamu valued at roughly 4.9 trillion Korean won and 15.1 trillion Korean won, respectively, this acquisition is the biggest financing deal in cryptocurrency history.Naver Finance became the only parent company of Dunamu as a result of this share exchange.Upbit and other trading platforms accounted for 97.9% of Dunamu's consolidated operating income, which increased by 22% to 1.19 trillion Korean won in the first nine months of the year. Coinbase: For $2.9 billion in May, Coinbase paid $700 million in cash and the remaining sum in stock to purchase Deribit, the biggest cryptocurrency options exchange.Strategy (MSTR): After issuance fees, Strategy's fourth preferred stock offering, Stretch (STRC), raised $2.52 billion in July, with net proceeds of roughly $2.474 billion. At an average price of $117,256 per coin, 21,021 BTC were bought with the money. Strategy's Bitcoin holdings rose to 628,791 coins, or almost $74 billion, after this transaction. Intercontinental Exchange (ICE): In October, ICE, the parent firm of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), strategically invested $2 billion in the prediction market Polymarket, which was valued at $8 billion prior to the investment. As part of the agreement, ICE became Polymarket's worldwide distributor for event-driven data in addition to acquiring a financial interest in the company.Abu Dhabi MGX: In March, Abu Dhabi MGX acquired a minority share in Binance by investing $2 billion. The transaction was the biggest investment in cryptocurrency assets to date as it was made completely of stablecoin. The royal family has complete control over Abu Dhabi MGX, which is mostly financed by the Abu Dhabi government. Strategy (MSTR): In order to buy additional Bitcoin, Strategy issued $2 billion in zero-coupon notes in February that are due in 2030. According to sources, these bonds had a three-year put option that allowed bondholders to redeem the bonds within a certain time frame prior to maturity, as well as a conversion premium that was set between 40% and 50%.Forward Industries (FORD): To introduce its Solana-based digital asset vault approach, Forward launched a $1.65 billion private placement using cash and stablecoins in September. Multicoin Capital, Jump Crypto, and Galaxy Digital led the round. Kraken: Kraken paid $1.5 billion to acquire NinjaTrader, a futures trading platform based in the United States, in March. Kraken is able to provide cryptocurrency futures and derivatives trading in the United States since NinjaTrader has a CFTC-registered FCM license. By utilizing its licenses in the UK, EU, and Australia, Kraken is also able to expedite its growth in Europe and Australia thanks to the acquisition.Galaxy Digital: To expedite the development of its Helios AI Data Center in Texas, Galaxy Digital completed a $1.4 billion loan financing in August. The initial renovation and expansion of Helios, which will supply electricity for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) company operations to satisfy a long-term agreement with CoreWeave, were entirely funded by this investment. Ripple: In April, Ripple made its biggest acquisition to yet when it paid $1.25 billion to acquire institutional brokerage business Hidden Road. Established in 2018, Hidden Road offers clearing, institutional brokerage, and financing services for foreign exchange, digital assets, futures, swaps, and fixed income. Every year, the company clears more over $3 trillion in transactions across a variety of markets.
