Screenshots spread online, with inaccuracies including Nigeria shown as landlocked in the Sahara and Mozambique misplaced in the Horn of Africa. Reuters said the map carried an artificial intelligence watermark linked to OpenAI tools. The State Department said it took “full responsibility,” blaming a team member who hastily altered the slide deck before the event.
