The Trump administration flagged dozens of US trading partners as potential risks for helping China evade tariffs through “illegal transshipment.” The White House report cited “more than 40 countries” with elevated risk, including the European Union, Mexico, Canada, India, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and Singapore. Officials said some nations are deeply integrated into China-linked supply chains, while others offer “preferential” access that makes them targets. The administration also plans an AI-enabled “detective border” with Customs and Border Protection.
