Ukrainian Drone Operators Hunt Down and Destroy Camouflaged Russian 2S19 Msta-S Artillery

Ukrainian forces report destroying a Russian 2S19 “Msta-S” self-propelled howitzer that had been concealed in a camouflaged firing position.

The operation was carried out by drone operators of the “Northern Eagle” unmanned systems battalion of Ukraine’s 151st Separate Mechanized Brigade. The brigade says Russian forces attempted to hide the heavy artillery piece, but Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance detected the target in time.

Once the position was identified, tactical strike drones carried out a precision attack. Footage released with the report shows a strike followed by a large explosion, presented as the moment the artillery system was destroyed.

The brigade frames the loss of the 2S19 as removing a key asset from the Russian fire-support lineup in the sector, reducing the threat it posed to Ukrainian defensive positions and nearby civilian settlements.

The article also points to similar recent drone operations against Russian artillery, including an earlier late-May strike where Ukrainian drone teams hit multiple Russian artillery systems after locating them in the Bryansk region.
