Ukraine’s Ambassador Summoned Over Attacks on Turkish-Operated Civilian Vessels

Turkey summoned Ukraine’s ambassador after attacks this week on two Turkish-operated civilian vessels in the Black Sea. The container ship Lider Bordo Mavi was struck while sailing off Russia’s coast, and the Lider Kocatepe was later targeted while attempting to tow the damaged vessel. Turkish officials stressed the need to protect people, property, navigation, and the marine environment. Ankara did not immediately report whether anyone was killed or injured. The damaged ship was eventually towed to Samsun, according to reports.
