Ukraine has received an additional €3.9 billion from the European Union for military and defence purposes. The funding is earmarked to support priority defence needs, including the production of Ukrainian drones, strengthening the capabilities of the defence industry, and covering urgent frontline supplies.
The announcement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko via Telegram on June 30. She said the tranche represents the first assistance under the new Ukraine Support Loan instrument that is purely oriented toward defence.
Svyrydenko also noted that on June 25 Ukraine had already received €3.2 billion from the same programme, but that earlier tranche was allocated to general budget support. With the new €3.9 billion included, the total amount received under this mechanism would be €7 billion.
