Ukraine opened a criminal investigation after crowds in the western city of Lviv surrounded and overturned an army conscription vehicle late Wednesday, following the detention of a man suspected of evading military service.

Prosecutors said the probe covers an incident involving Ukrainian servicemen, police officers, and around 200 civilians. They also reported that two criminal proceedings have been initiated—one for obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period under martial law, and another for using violence against a law-enforcement officer.
