UK’s Burnham Would Call Out Trump If in Britain’s Interest, He Tells BBC

Andy Burnham told the BBC he would always put Britain’s interests first and would not hesitate to criticise U.S. President Donald Trump if he believed it was right for the country. Burnham was asked whether he would call out Trump directly, and said leaders must defend national interest above all else. He also said he would rule out an early general election before 2029. On defence, Burnham said the UK remains committed to NATO pledges, including ramping up spending to 3.5% of GDP by 2035.
