UK Policing Minister Sarah Jones has condemned what she called “intimidating and thuggish” disorder during an anti-migrant protest in Portsmouth. Around 200 demonstrators confronted police after migrants arriving by small boat were taken ashore and prepared for processing. Several officers were injured, while police vehicles were damaged and protesters reportedly threw bricks and stones. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify those responsible. Jones defended peaceful protest but warned that threatening behaviour, violence and serious disruption would face the law.
