UK Guidance Says Trans People Should Use Facilities Based on Biological Sex

The UK has issued new guidance stating that toilets and changing rooms in single-sex spaces should be used according to biological sex. The Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) says trans people should instead be offered a third or gender-neutral option where available, and that leaving someone without access could be discriminatory. The guidance covers public-facing services including gyms and hospitals and follows a landmark Supreme Court ruling that defined “woman” under the Equality Act using biological sex.
