The U.S. Treasury Department temporarily authorized the sale, delivery and import of Russian-origin diesel through 12:01 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on April 7, 2027. President Donald Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to release diesel for global markets, including an immediate shipment of hundreds of thousands of tons. The move comes as fuel prices rise and marks a pause in some sanctions imposed after Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized the decision, saying it could help Russia prolong the war.
