U.S. Embassy, PH Ambassador Unveil Official Logo Marking 80 Years of U.S.–Philippine Relations in Pasay City

PASAY CITY, Philippines — The United States Embassy in the Philippines and the Philippine Ambassador to the United States joined forces on Thursday, February 05, 2026, to unveil the official logo commemorating the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. The launch, held at the SM Mall of Asia Globe in Pasay City, kicked off a yearlong celebration recognizing eight decades of partnership, friendship, and alliance.

United States Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., Y. Robert Ewing and Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez led the ceremony, which drew diplomats, officials, and members of the public to witness the momentous occasion.

In his remarks, Ewing highlighted the deep roots of the bilateral relationship, noting that the United States and the Philippines established formal diplomatic ties on July 4, 1946 — the same day the Philippines gained independence. He emphasized how the partnership has grown through shared efforts in defense, economic cooperation, education, health, and disaster response over the decades. “The next chapters will be written by the innovative young people who are already building on our shared legacy,” Ewing said, affirming confidence in the future of U.S.–Philippine collaboration.

Ambassador Romualdez described the new logo as more than just a design — “it is a story of eight decades of shared struggles, shared values, and shared aspirations.” He underscored the people-to-people ties that have helped sustain the relationship through times of change.

The logo unveiling is just the first in a series of events and initiatives planned throughout 2026 to honor the longstanding bond between Manila and Washington. As part of the anniversary activities, both countries are expected to host cultural exhibits, educational exchanges, and collaborative programs that reflect their enduring alliance.

The celebration also comes amid evolving regional dynamics in the Indo-Pacific, where U.S.–Philippine cooperation continues to play a significant role in promoting security, economic growth, and shared democratic values.
