Two Killed in Sidoarjo: Chain Collision involving Five Vehicles Results in Wrecked Residential Home

Sidoarjo, Indonesia—A chain collision involving five vehicles leveled a portion of a home on Tuesday morning. Two people died as a result of the pileup, which occurred during peak traffic hours. The force of the impact pushed a truck through the front wall of the structure.

Witnesses stated the incident began when a truck suffered a mechanical failure while descending the road. The driver lost steering capability and swerved into oncoming traffic. Three motorcycles and two other cars were caught in the subsequent chain reaction.

Rescue teams pulled two bodies from the wreckage shortly after the incident. Paramedics confirmed both victims were pronounced dead upon arrival. One of the victims was inside the house when the truck struck the wall.

Neighbors helped clear debris while waiting for specialized equipment to arrive. The sound of the crash drew a crowd that blocked access for several minutes. Police had to clear a path for ambulances to reach the site.

The house, located near the intersection, sustained heavy structural damage. Authorities have ordered the area evacuated due to the risk of a roof collapse. The owners were shaken but survived the ordeal with minor injuries.

Local police are currently interviewing the truck driver to determine the state of the vehicle. Preliminary inspections indicate the braking system may have failed before the incident. The driver is currently in custody for questioning.

The pileup created a massive bottleneck in the neighborhood. Several heavy-duty wreckers were required to pull the vehicles apart. The cleanup effort continued well into the afternoon as crews worked to stabilize the building.

The investigation is ongoing as officials gather statements from survivors. They are focusing on maintenance records for the truck involved in the crash. Further details are expected once the site is cleared.
