In the early hours of May 29, 2026, a Russian drone crashed into the roof of a ten-story apartment building in Galați, near the Ukrainian border, causing an explosion that resulted in minor injuries to two residents. The Romanian Defense Ministry confirmed that the drone was part of an overnight Russian offensive targeting civilian and infrastructural sites across Ukraine.

Local emergency services reported that the drone's impact ignited a fire, which was swiftly extinguished. Fortunately, the injuries suffered by a woman and her child were categorized as minor, with both receiving medical treatment on-site.
