SINGAPORE — Two individuals were rushed to General Hospital for smoke inhalation and minor burns after a fierce fire gutted a high-floor public housing apartment in Pasir Ris, triggering a rapid response from emergency crews and the evacuation of surrounding residents.
The blaze erupted inside a unit situated on the upper levels of an HDB residential block, rapidly consuming furniture and household items before engulfing the main living spaces. Billowing clouds of dark smoke poured out of the broken unit windows, alerting neighbors across the estate who quickly raised the alarm and notified emergency services.
The Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) dispatched multiple fire engines, red rhinos, and emergency medical personnel to the scene. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus forced entry through the main doorway, navigating extreme heat and dense smoke to combat the flames.
