TULLAMARINE, Australia — A terrifying road rage dispute turned violent on Wednesday afternoon, October 14, 2026, after an altercation between the occupants of an Isuzu utility truck and a Hyundai SUV escalated into a pursuit and gunfire across suburban streets in northern Melbourne.
The incident spanned multiple locations, beginning along May Street and spilling into nearby Dawson Street as the conflict intensified.
According to Victoria Police investigators, emergency services were dispatched at approximately 3:15 PM following urgent reports of a vehicle collision and gunshots in Tullamarine.
Preliminary inquiries indicate that what began as an initial road rage encounter on May Street quickly escalated. Occupants inside the Hyundai SUV allegedly opened fire on the Isuzu utility truck, striking the vehicle before crashing into a tree on a nature strip.
Despite the gunfire and subsequent vehicle damage, no injuries were reported among the victims in the Isuzu or nearby bystanders.
Following the collision and gunfire, the offenders inside the damaged Hyundai abandoned their vehicle at the scene. The suspects then entered a secondary getaway vehicle to flee the area before officers arrived.
The victims in the Isuzu utility managed to drive safely to the Broadmeadows Police Station to report the attack and seek assistance.
Detectives established and cordoned off two crime scenes on May Street and Dawson Street to collect ballistic evidence, secure CCTV footage, and inspect the abandoned Hyundai.
Police are urging any witnesses who were traveling in the Tullamarine area at the time or who possess dash cam or security camera footage of either vehicle to contact Crime Stoppers immediately.
Community members and local residents expressed heightened concern following the unprovoked daytime violence in an otherwise quiet residential neighborhood. Local neighborhood watch groups have advised residents to report any suspicious activity or unrecognized vehicles seen idling in the area during the time of the getaway, as law enforcement maintains an expanded patrol presence throughout northern Melbourne suburbia.
