Trump reportedly weighs lifting sanctions on Russia’s investment fund

The Trump administration is reportedly considering lifting sanctions on the Russian Direct Investment Fund, a state-run body led by Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev. The New York Times reported that Treasury officials are reviewing a request for relief as part of negotiations around a deal to supply Russian diesel to the United States. The Biden administration sanctioned the fund in 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine. No decision has been announced, and sanctions remain in place pending review.
