Trump Administration Hits International Criminal Court With Severe Sanctions

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the sanctions on October 9, saying Washington would cut off transactions with the International Criminal Court (ICC). The restrictions could block the court’s access to U.S. financial services, technology and dollar transactions; companies have six months to wind down relevant business. The administration says it opposes the ICC’s investigations involving the United States and its allies, including Israel. The court condemned the move as an attack on international justice. Several U.S. allies reaffirmed their support for the ICC.
