The National Crime Agency (NCA) says it has uncovered a “truly international” network involved in drug-facilitated rape and sexual assaults.
Investigators believe perpetrators targeted women by drugging them and then assaulting them, with the alleged offenders linked to activity organized and coordinated online. The NCA says the operation identified a network of individuals connected through digital forums and messaging, and that it mapped both suspects and victims as part of its enquiries.
Following the investigation, police made arrests and carried out actions tied to the case, while the NCA said work continues to identify additional victims and hold more suspects accountable. The agency described the operation as complex and cross-border in nature, reflecting how offenders allegedly used online spaces to connect, recruit, and coordinate.
The NCA’s findings also highlight the investigative role of intelligence-led policing—identifying patterns of behaviour, linking cases together, and using international cooperation to pursue suspects believed to be operating beyond the UK.
