SUSCH, Switzerland — A devastating tour bus crash near the village of Susch in eastern Switzerland left five people dead and dozens injured after the vehicle veered off a mountain road and overturned.
The incident occurred late on Thursday afternoon, September 10, 2026 around 4:45 p.m. local time along the main road connecting the Alpine villages of Zernez and Susch in the canton of Graubünden.
The bus, carrying 45 Dutch nationals on an organized tour, struck a safety barrier in a single-lane construction section before careening off the roadway and coming to rest on its side down an embankment.
Swiss emergency services mounted a massive rescue response, dispatching 13 ground ambulance crews and seven rescue helicopters—including teams from Rega, Alpine Air Ambulance, and Heli Austria—to airlift critical casualties to surrounding regional hospitals.
