Tragedy in Qormi: Man Crushed to Death by Falling Tiles in Horrific Accident

QORMI, MALTA — A workplace routine turned fatal on Wednesday morning, July 15, 2026, when a 40-year-old worker was tragically crushed to death by a massive stack of falling tiles at a warehouse in Qormi.

The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the local community, occurred in a storage facility located on Triq il-Wied (Valley Road).

The tragedy struck at approximately 8:30 a.m. while the victim, identified as a Nigerian national residing in Birżebbuġa, was carrying out his duties inside the warehouse. For reasons still under investigation, a heavy load of commercial tiles stored at the site suddenly toppled over, completely pinning and crushing the worker beneath their immense weight.
